Neighborhoods of Kadıköy such as Feneryolu, Fenerbahçe, and the vicinity of Bağdat Avenue house many examples of murals from the 1970s and 2000s, which define the collective memory of an era, that can be seen on the façades and entrances of apartments. Works by Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu, Eren Eyüboğlu, Cevdet Altuğ, Erdinç Bakla, İlgi Adalan, Taci Alpaslan, Yalçın Tokay, and many other unnamed artists are exhibited in these apartments, creating open-air museums. This route, organized in collaboration with Şehrin Panoları (City Panels) and supported by Kale Design and Art Center, will showcase nearly ten ceramic and mosaic panels by various artists located on Bağdat Avenue and surrounding streets. The era’s relationship between architecture and art will be discussed, artists will be acknowledged, and the stories behind the murals will be told.
