Play in the City | Introduction to Playmaking

Close your eyes for a moment and recall a memory of play from your childhood. Where are you playing? What are you playing? And who is with you? This workshop will highlight the importance of child-led play with open-ended materials and opens new doors to imagining what play without adult intervention might look like. It seeks answers to the question: Are we able to provide today’s children with the play opportunities we once had ourselves? At the same time, it will offer a chance to reflect on new approaches to ensuring that all children—especially those growing up in cities—have meaningful opportunities to play.
