Event Description

Cities are constantly redefining themselves; however, not all emerging ideas are new. Strategies such as pedestrianization, mixed-use neighborhoods, green infrastructure, and waterfront reclamation—once regarded as utopian or unfeasible—have re-emerged today as critical responses to pressing issues including the climate crisis, social justice, and quality of life. Marmara Municipalities Union (MMU) has played a significant role in enabling such projects to be realized in many cities since 1975. This session will focus on these approaches and the projects of MMU in its 50th anniversary.
