Walkshop | O'film Route: In the Footsteps of Muhsin Bey
Urban Route
Senses-On
Etkinlik Açıklaması
Istanbul, and particularly Beyoğlu, can be considered the main stage of Turkish cinema. "Muhsin Bey," directed by Yavuz Turgul and starring Şener Şen and Uğur Yücel, is one of the most profound films depicting migration, sociological transformation, and cultural conflicts of 1980s Istanbul. The film also serves as a documentary of the Tarlabaşı Boulevard demolitions. This route, following Muhsin Bey's footsteps, offers an experience where cinema, collective memory, and urban sociology intertwine. Starting from Tarlabaşı Boulevard, participants will visit the film's locations along the alleys around Istiklal Avenue to Galata, paying attention to stories of individuals and those from the film. During the walk, participants will mark their feelings on locations, and will collectively create a map of Muhsin Bey's emotions. With the "frame within a frame" approach, participants will step into the scenes and connect with both the history of the location and the film's characters.
