Ali Berker

Ali Berker is a Professor at the Department of Economics, Hacettepe University. His fields of research include labor economics, education economics, economics of migration, economics of population, and applied econometrics.
He received his Ph.D. in Economics from Michigan State University in 2001 and his B.A. in Economics from Middle East Technical University in 1992. In the 2009–2010 academic year, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Population Studies Center, University of Michigan, and during the summer of 2009 at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research. His research focuses on the effects of internal migration on labor market outcomes as well as the social integration of refugees and migrants.
In addition to his academic work, he has served as a consultant in projects carried out with international organizations such as the ILO, IOM, and ICMPD, contributing to policy reports on migration, labor markets, and socio-economic integration in Türkiye. He has also led various research projects supported by TÜBİTAK and has supervised several master’s theses.
