Azime Tezer
Emeritus Prof., Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Istanbul Techical University
Azime Tezer is a retired faculty member of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at Istanbul Technical University (ITU). Her research interests are research projects and graduate theses on topics such as ecological planning and the relationship between ecosystem services and spatial planning, natural hazards risk mitigation via spatial planning, the integration of adaptation to climate change and basin protection planning into spatial planning, and urban resilience.
After the 1999 Marmara Earthquakes, she participated in the ACHIEVE - Trainer Training Program with the cooperation of ITU-US Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) between 2000-2001; she took part in many training and capacity building programs for central and local government officials, disaster and emergency management personnel, and official institutions; and she has carried out national and internationally supported projects. Finally, he represented ITU and the Union of Planning Schools of Turkey (TUPOB) in the panels organized by the United Nations, Planners for Climate Action (P4CA) Initiative at COP 23 (2017), Bonn, COP 25 (2019), Madrid, and Nairobi UN-HABITAT (2019).
