Bahar Biçen Aras

Bahar Biçen Aras graduated from Istanbul University's Information and Records Management Department in 2000 and earned her MBA from Bahçeşehir University in 2010 with a thesis titled “Information Sharing in Organizational Communication.”

She worked as an Information and Records Management specialist at Bahçeşehir University for many years, then served as the Technical Services Unit Manager at MEF University. Since 2022, she has been the Director of Information Resources and Library at İstinye University. She has also played a role as a consultant and cataloging specialist in the establishment process of many libraries.

Actively involved in professional associations, Biçen Aras is continuing her second term as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Istanbul Branch of the Turkish Librarians' Association (TKD). She was elected as a member of the Cataloging Standing Committee for the 2025-2027 term and a member of the International Standard Bibliographic Description (ISBD) Committee for the 2025-2029 term in the 2025 IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions) elections.

Aras's areas of interest include RDA, academic library management, budgeting, electronic resources, and sustainability. She also has national and international publications in the field of librarianship.
