Can Sungu

Artistic Director, SİNEMA TRANSTOPIA

Can Sungu is the co-founder and artistic director of bi'bak and SİNEMA TRANSTOPIA in Berlin, where he has curated film and event series, including the international congress Cinema of Commoning, since 2022. 

He has served as a juror and advisor for Berlinale Forum, Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, Duisburger Filmwoche, Hauptstadtkulturfonds and the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program. 

He has published several books, including Bitte zurückspulen – Deutsch-türkische Film- und Videokultur in Berlin (Archive Books, 2020) and Destination:Tashkent (Archive Books, 2024). Since 2023, he has also been working as a curator for filmic practices at HKW in Berlin.
