Can Yücesoy

Can Yücesoy holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Middle East Technical University (METU) and a PhD in Biomechanics from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. Since 2004, he has been a full-time faculty member at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at Boğaziçi University.

Yücesoy is the director of the Neurotechnological Solutions Platform, a large-scale university-industry collaboration initiative funded by the TÜBİTAK 1004 High Technology Excellence Center Program. In addition, he serves as the academic lead for Boğaziçi University within The European University of Brain and Technology – NeurotechEU, an alliance supported by the European Universities Initiative of the European Union, and he is also a member of the NeurotechEU Board of Directors.

He leads the Biomechanics Laboratory he established at Boğaziçi University, as well as the MADE in NTSP (Motion Assistive Devices Ecosystem for Industry and NeuroTechnological Solutions Platform) research center. This center provides a shared research infrastructure for NeurotechEU and serves as an accredited test center for the NATO-DIANA Program. Within the NeurotechEU Alliance, Yücesoy is responsible for guiding the implementation of the Joint Policies and Strategy Development work package, which aims to develop translational neurotechnological innovations that are responsible, ethical, and beneficial to society, and aligned with regional priorities. He is particularly interested in the broad and transformative potential of neurotechnology to support sustainable regional development goals—not only in healthcare and health services but also across diverse fields such as smart cities, economy, ecology, nutrition, and information technologies.
