Ece Ceylan Baba

Ece Ceylan Baba received a bachelor’s degree from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Architecture, and completed her master’s degree at Yeditepe University. She received her PhD from the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Architectural Design Problems Program. She received the title of Associate Professor in 2016 and Professor in 2021 at Yeditepe University.
Baba has been serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture since 2021 and Vice Rector since 2024 at Yeditepe University. She is teaching design studio and theoretical courses. She also continues to publish her academic works in architecture and participates in architectural and interdisciplinary research projects. Her academic research interests include architectural utopias and dystopias, high-rise construction, globalization, user participation, environmental and urban psychology, housing typologies, and the concept of loft. She authored three books on her research work: Architectural Utopias in Search of the Ideal City, published in 2020; Loft: Architecture of Loft in the Shift from Modernism to Postmodernism through its Reflections in Istanbul, published in 2015; and Design Democracy in Istanbul, published in 2010. She has participated in many national and international Architecture and Design competitions as both founder and jury member. She received awards from Reddot Design Awards, IF Design Awards, A' Design Award, and Xone Awards for her professional work in porcelain tile design in 2015 and 2016.
She actively supports various professional organizations and NGOs. She is a founding member of Collective Mindset-Antakya, a civil and independent platform founded for the revitalization of the earthquake-stricken city of Antioch.
