Esin Köymen

Esin Köymen graduated from the Department of Architecture at Yıldız Technical University's Faculty of Architecture. Having begun her career as an architect, Köymen has served on various committees for the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) and the Chamber of Architects.

She served two terms as board secretary and two terms as president of the Anatolian 2nd Metropolitan Regional Representative Office. She also served three terms as president of the Istanbul Metropolitan Branch of the Chamber of Architects between 2018 and 2023. She has conducted research on urban transformation, zoning regulations, megaprojects, and urban renewal.

Gülsuyu, who contributed to urban renewal processes in the Gülsuyu, Gülensu, and Başıbüyük neighborhoods of Maltepe, was nominated by the Republican People's Party (CHP) as Maltepe's mayoral candidate in the 2024 local elections. Köymen was elected by a majority vote.
