Ezgi Küçük Çalıkan is the Urban Planning Coordinator at Marmara Municipalities Union (MMU).
She serves as the Director of the MMU Urban Policies Center, Editor-in-Chief and cover illustrator of the City & Society journal, and Program and Content Coordinator of the biennial Marmara Urban Forum (MARUF) since 2019.
She graduated in 2011 from the Department of City and Regional Planning, Faculty of Architecture at Izmir Institute of Technology, ranking third in her class. In 2014, she completed her master’s degree in the Urban Design Master’s Program at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) with a thesis on the morphological regions of Istanbul’s Historic Peninsula. She earned her PhD in the ITU Urban and Regional Planning Doctoral Program with a dissertation examining property relations in urban fringe belt areas through the case of Istanbul, which was awarded the İlhan Tekeli 2023 Doctoral Incentive Prize. Continuing her academic work within the Turkish Network of Urban Morphology, her professional interests include urban morphology, property, participation, and urban and regional policy-making.
Beyond her profession, she is engaged in graphic design, comic and story creation, mythology studies, and women’s circles.
