Fatih Terzi
Prof., Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Istanbul Technical University
Fatih Terzi is a faculty member at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Istanbul Technical University. His research and professional interests focus on sustainable urban growth, spatial strategic planning, ecological planning, climate-sensitive planning and design, and disaster risk reduction.
In his academic work, he employs urban modeling techniques, geographic information systems, and, in recent years, artificial intelligence methods in urban research. Through these approaches, he has contributed to numerous national and international publications. He has also served as a visiting scholar at Clemson University (USA), University College London-CASA (UK), and Technische Universität Berlin (Germany).
He has participated in a wide range of research and planning projects in collaboration with TOKİ, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the European Union, and international COST networks. Over the past five years, he has contributed to major planning processes at national, regional, and metropolitan scales. These include the Türkiye Spatial Strategy Plan, the Marmara Regional Spatial Development Framework, the Istanbul Green Space Management Strategy Document, as well as various watershed conservation studies, environmental master plans, urban regeneration master plans, and transport master plans. He has also assumed leadership responsibilities in World Bank–supported projects in cooperation with PwC.
He is currently engaged in the Istanbul Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan – Phase II, the Istanbul Post-Disaster Reconstruction Plan, and the Marmara Regional Risk Reduction Plan as a consultant. In addition, he is working on the Denizli Spatial Strategic Framework and serving as the coordinator of the Bursa 2050 Provincial Environmental Plan.
