Gillian Easson
Executive Director, Creative Dundee
Gillian Easson is Executive Director of Creative Dundee, an organisation that centres creative communities as catalysts for collective good and social impact.
She has grown the organisation from the grassroots to an organisation that led the city’s first Creative Industries Strategy co-designed with practitioners, produces platforms such as We Dundee and 99 Things to See and Do, and runs the Amps supporters’ network. The organisation’s small, embedded team connects creativity with policy areas including climate and social justice, health and wellbeing, placemaking, and the future of high streets.
As a champion of place-based creative economies, design and innovation, she brings a strong track record in policy influence, enterprise support, and international collaboration — from co-authoring the British Council’s Creative HubKit to serving as UK Co-lead Partner of the European Creative Hubs Network.
Future-focused, she thrives in complex environments, using her strengths in futuristic vision, maximising potential, and collaborative problem-solving to convene diverse voices and shape ambitious agendas. She is currently leading research to imagine the future of the creative economy, developing visions and infrastructures that ensure creativity drives fairer, greener, and more resilient societies.
Easson believes creative communities hold the keys to reimagining the future — and works to make that vision tangible, inclusive, and lasting.
