Gökhan Yılmaz
Head of Division, Disaster Risk and Reduction Management (AFAD)
Gökhan Yılmaz completed his undergraduate education at Yıldız Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, Department of Urban and Regional Planning. He completed his master's degree in the Regional Planning Program at Istanbul Technical University's Institute of Science. He then went on to graduate from the Public Administration, Local Government, International Relations, and Sociology departments at Anadolu University.
He began working at Kağıthane Municipality in 1996. After serving as the Zoning Director between 2007 and 2009, he became the Deputy Zoning Director of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in 2009. In subsequent years, he served as the Deputy Urban Planning Director and Urban Planning Director. He served as the Head of the IMM Department of Zoning and Urban Planning between 2014 and 2017, and as the Head of the Earthquake Risk Management and Urban Development Department between 2017 and 2019. He was then appointed as the Provincial Director of AFAD in November 2019. Following this duty between 2019 and 2022, he was appointed as the Head of the Risk Identification and Prevention Department at the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency from 2022, and as the Head of the Marmara Disaster Risk Reduction Department. He has served on numerous boards and commissions throughout his career and has participated in numerous national and international symposiums as a speaker or presenter.
