İlkim Markoç

İlkim Markoç is a faculty member at the Department of Housing Production and Construction Management at the Faculty of Architecture, Yıldız Technical University (YTU). She completed her undergraduate studies in Architecture at Bursa Uludağ University, followed by a master's degree at the same institution. In 2018, she earned her PhD in Architecture from Yıldız Technical University. Additionally, she completed a second undergraduate degree in Sociology at Istanbul University, building an interdisciplinary academic foundation.

Markoç began her academic career in 2013 as a research assistant and has been serving as an Assistant Professor since 2022. Her research focuses on housing production, urban transformation, digitalization, young adults’ housing preferences, social sustainability, and IoT-based smart city models. She has published numerous articles, book chapters, and conference papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals. Her work covers topics such as housing accessibility for young adults, the impact of Airbnb on urban dynamics, the relationship between social media and housing, and gerontechnology acceptance.

She has led and contributed as a researcher to national projects, with a particular emphasis on digital housing models, urban transformation strategies based on the use of reserved parcels, and digital twin applications for cultural heritage buildings. In 2020, she was awarded the YTU Sociopark Special Award. She has also presented papers at various national and international conferences and has organized and led workshops.

Adopting an interdisciplinary approach in her academic work, İlkim Markoç continues to make scientific contributions in the fields of housing, urban sociology, environmental psychology, and digitalization.
