Işıl Erol
Prof., Department of International Finance, Özyeğin University
Işıl Erol is a Professor of Real Estate Finance in the Department of International Finance at Özyeğin University and also serves as the Academic Director of the Alp Alkaş Retail and Real Estate Center, one of the university's research centers.
She received her undergraduate degree from the Department of City and Regional Planning at Middle East Technical University (METU) and her master’s degree from the METU Department of Economics and the Department of Land Economy at the University of Cambridge. She earned her PhD in Real Estate Finance from the University of Cambridge in 2004. Erol’s research interests include real estate finance and investments, corporate finance, and housing economics. Before joining the Faculty of Business at Özyeğin University, she held academic positions at the Henley Business School, University of Reading (UK); the Department of Property Economics at Queensland University of Technology (Australia); and the Department of Economics at METU.
She has served as a principal investigator, consultant, and researcher on various projects funded by the World Bank, the European Union, and TÜBİTAK, focusing on topics such as the financialization of housing markets, financing of urban regeneration projects, mortgage market development, and housing crises. Her academic work has been published in leading international journals, including Journal of Housing Economics, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Regional Studies, Urban Geography, Applied Economics, and International Journal of Urban and Regional Research.
