Jan Schierkolk
Facilitator
Jan Schierkolk is a freelance advisor, project manager and facilitator focusing on building international and trans-cultural bridges, and on empowering civil society and young people to become engaged, locally and across borders – especially between Türkiye and Germany.
Schierkolk worked on various inclusion and education-related projects for disadvantaged beneficiaries, including migrants and refugees, with government agencies, NGOs, schools, research institutions and municipalities; in Türkiye, Germany, and other countries. This includes diversity / anti-discrimination and youth work, and promotion of sustainability, local participation, volunteerism, and social entrepreneurship, as well as international cooperation and city partnership projects in all of these areas.
Schierkolk studied and worked in a great variety of countries and contexts over the past 20 years, though with an increasing focus on Türkiye. He holds an MA in International Affairs from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) in Geneva, and a BA in Governance and Public Policy from the University of Passau, including short-term studies at Boğaziçi and Texas A&M universities.
