Leyla Barlas Aslan

Leyla Barlas studied at the Faculty of Education at Katholieke Leergangen in the Netherlands and graduated from the Translation and Interpretation Department at Bosphorus University in 1994. 

That same year, she began to work at the Dutch Consulate General in Istanbul. After working in various departments, she started her career at the MATRA (Social Transformation) department in 2001. The MATRA programme is a fund of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs for NGOs, universities and municipalities in current and potential EU candidate countries. 

Barlas speaks Dutch, Turkish, English, German and French.
