Liana Kuyumcuyan

Liana Kuyumcuyan is a researcher and social designer working at the intersection of public space, everyday urban practices, and spatial justice.
She holds a BA in "Industrial Design" from Istanbul Bilgi University. She completed her MA in "Architecture and Urban Studies" at Kadir Has University with a thesis titled "Micro-Publics: Sitting Outdoors as a Resilient Practice in a Transforming City." She is currently a PhD candidate at the National Technical University of Athens, continuing her research on micro-publics in Istanbul, Athens, and Naples.
She is working as a designer at Urban.Koop, Urban Studies Cooperative since 2024. Between 2021 and 2022, she worked as the project and event coordinator for Postane, an urban center for social change in Istanbul. She led the CultureCIVIC-funded project "Searching the Cosmopolitan City in a Building," about the Postane building, built in 1859 as the British Post Office. As a result of this research, she co-authored the book "Postane: Archaeology of a Building" with Murat Tülek, published in 2024. She co-edited Dragomanen's issue "Pedestrian Modernities" in 2025. She was the executive editor of "Design Unlimited" magazine from 2019 to 2024. In 2020, she was the guest editor of the "Spatial Justice and Beyoğlu" issue of beyond.istanbul."
