Lokman Atasoy
Technical Coordinator, Cittaslow Turkiye & Advisor to the Mayor, Antalya Metropalitan Municipality
Lokman Atasoy completed his undergraduate studies in the Department of Environmental Engineering at 19 Mayıs University, Faculty of Engineering, and his master's degree in Environmental Engineering at Akdeniz University, Faculty of Engineering, with a thesis on "Environmental Impacts of Yacht-Generated Waste and Waste Management in Marinas."
He began his career at the Turkish Environmental Education Foundation (TÜRÇEV), established by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2000. He served as the Antalya Coordinator of the International Blue Flag, Eco-Schools, Green Key, Young Spokespersons for the Environment, and Forestry in Schools programs.
He served as a Board Member of the Antalya Provincial Representative of the Chamber of Environmental Engineers of Turkey in 2010, as the Antalya Provincial Representative from 2013 to 2014, as the Founding President of the ÇMO Antalya Branch in 2014, as the President of the Antalya Branch from 2016 to 2018, and as a member of the ÇMO Headquarters Honorary Board for two terms from 2018 to 2022.
As of 2021, he has been serving as an advisor to the Mayor of the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality. He also serves as President of the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Environmental Committee, a member of the ANÇET and ALDAŞ Boards of Directors, and the Turkish Technical Coordinator for Cittaslow (Slow City).
He was awarded the 2021 Environmental Service Award by Akdeniz University for his successful work in the field of environmental protection.
