Mirsada Bajramovic

Director, “Land of Children in BiH” Association

Mirsada Bajramović is a distinguished lawyer, founder, and director of the NGO Land of Children in BiH. She is widely recognized for developing the pioneering Day Center model for street children, which has been adopted as a standard for child protection throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region, as well as for establishing the country’s first shelter for children.

As a leading children’s rights expert, she has initiated and drafted comprehensive legal frameworks to ensure children’s access to free and compulsory healthcare, education for marginalized groups, and the strengthening of social and child protection systems. She has also developed legislative measures within criminal law to protect children from sexual violence and introduced minimum standards for the protection of victims of human trafficking. Bajramović designed and implemented a local referral mechanism to combat child trafficking across 42 municipalities and created a mobile team model for identifying potential victims of trafficking. Representing civil society, she serves as a member of the national and entity-level Children’s Councils and the National Mechanism for Combating Human Trafficking. In these roles, she provides legal guidance to government institutions and NGOs, supporting compliance and the integration of rights-based approaches in child protection policies and practices.

An accomplished author, Bajramović has published numerous studies and professional papers on child rights and protection. Her groundbreaking work has been recognized with multiple national and international human rights awards. In 2024, she received the “Super Woman” Award, honoring her lifelong commitment to advancing the rights and welfare of children, particularly in post-conflict societies.
