Nihan Oya Memlük Çobanoğlu

Nihan Oya Memlük Çobanoğlu educated as an urban planner at the Department of City and Regional Planning, Faculty of Architecture at Middle East Technical University (METU).

She has built a career at the intersection of research and teaching. she completed both my Master’s in Urban Design and my PhD at METU. She began my academic journey as a research assistant at Gazi University, Faculty of Architecture, Department of City and Regional Planning in 2011, and was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2024. Currently based in Rotterdam, her research focuses on understanding human–environment interactions through the lens of environmental psychology to inform urban design practices that promote healthier, more livable, and inclusive urban futures. In addition to her research, she has led design studios and taught courses on urban design, environmental psychology, and public spaces.
