Nilüfer Kozikoğlu
Architect, Urban Atölye & Tuşpa
Nilüfer Kozikoğlu received her undergraduate degree from Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul and completed her Master’s in Urban and Architectural Design at the Architectural Association Design Research Laboratory in London. Since 2005, she has been a visiting lecturer at various universities and has won several awards in national and international competitions.
Her work Alveosis Shell System, developed in collaboration with Urban Atölye and Fibrobeton, was presented at the Digital Concrete Conferences held at MIT Boston and ETH Zurich. She was also selected to represent Istanbul in the Architecture Foundation Istanbul-London exchange program. Following the 1999 earthquake, she worked on projects such as a hospital design for the German Red Cross, a master plan for Bakırköy RSH Hospital, planning strategies for Istanbul University Hospitals, and the design of a psychiatric hospital in Kayseri, covering a wide range of scales. In 2017, she received second prize in the International Bandırma Design Park Competition.
Kozikoğlu is the co-lead and researcher of Spacechase, an architectural and urban design application supported by TÜBİTAK and conducted in collaboration with ITU Faculty of Architecture, as part of an industry-academia partnership. Currently, under the Urban Atölye brand, she continues to produce and research projects that merge digital design and production processes with craftsmanship, focusing on objects, surfaces, and spatial design. She also serves as a faculty member at Bilgi University, where she teaches courses on design and architecture.
