Ömür Öykü Kurt

Ömür Öykü Kurt she graduated from Gazi University's Department of International Relations in 2005. She completed her MSc Degree at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at METU in 2008 and her PhD at the same department in 2022. In 1998, she received the National Jury Encouragement Award at the "Our Republic Through the Eyes of High School Students" Local History Competition organized by the Turkish Historical Society. Her short story "Özürlü Kadrosu" was published in 2014 on the Kirpi Literature & Thought and Alt Zine Culture and Literature magazines. Since 2017, she has organized children's workshops in collaboration with different NGOs and organizations. From 2019 onwards, for approximately three years, she wrote short stories and children's books reviews in the "7 to 7 Children's Literature and Culture Magazine. Between 2018 and 2025, she wrote children's books reviews on the “Green Newspaper”. In 2019, she attended the storytelling seminar given by Sevinç Buse Gürcü in Ankara. In addition, she participated in the Children's Stories Workshop at Momo Writing Institute in 2021. In 2022, her children's book titled "Tilki Bogi'nin Şarkısı" was published by Vakıfbank Kültür Yayınları.

From 2005 to 2016, she worked as a research assistant at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at METU. Between April 2023 and August 2023, she served as a specialist officer/rapporteur at the Strategy Development Directorate of Avcılar Municipality. Since August 2023, she has been working as an instructor at the Children's Park of Ecological Education of Avcılar Municipality.
