Paul Lecroart
Senior Urbanist, Institut Paris Region (Paris Metropolitan Planning & Environmental Agency)
Paul Lecroart is a Senior Urbanist for the Paris Region Planning and Environmental Agency, advising the regional, metropolitan & city governments on strategic planning and large transformative projects. Working on livable and walkable cities, he leads the Metropolitan Avenues programme on highway transformation in the Grand Paris, drawing on experience from New York, Seoul, and other cities.
He chairs the METREX ‘From Roads to Streets’ Expert Group, partnering with Eurocities City Fringe Regeneration and Urbact RiConnect. Paul also steers the Metropolitan Nature Pilot-Projects programme in the Paris Region.
He has been involved in city design and planning expertise in over 30 cities in Europe, the Americas, North Africa, the Middle East and China. He was a member of the International Advisory Board for the 4th New York Regional Plan (2014-2016), and a Coordinator for Metropolis, the global network of cities (1999-2002). Fellow of the Sorbonne and UCLA universities, he has taught strategic and tactical planning at Sciences Po Urban School and at the Paris Urban Planning School.
He has contributed to books, films and research publications, including ‘Large-Scale Urban Development in Europe’ (2007) and ‘Cities Change the Word’ published in December 2019.
