Şenay Gül

Şenay Gül graduated from the Social Work Department of Hacettepe University in 2009. During her undergraduate studies, she participated in the Erasmus Program as an exchange student at Hogeschool van Amsterdam in the Netherlands, where she conducted practice-based research on women, children, and migration at the municipalities of Amsterdam and Utrecht. She also completed a social work internship at the Dutch Turkish Workers Association during this period.
She earned her master’s degree from Istanbul University, Department of Women’s Studies, with her thesis titled “Implementation of the Women’s Human Rights Training Program: The Case of Kadıköy Municipality.” Beginning in 2009, Gül worked as a Social Work Specialist at the Ministry of Family and Social Services, serving in various cities and focusing on children, women, and gender equality. She played an active role in projects addressing neglected and abused children, women’s rights, and social support services.
She joined Kadıköy Municipality as a Social Work Specialist in 2015. She was appointed Acting Director of Social Support Services in 2017 and served as Head of the Social Equality Unit between 2018 and 2019. In 2020, she became Head of the Women and Family Services Branch at Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM). As of May 2023, she continues to serve as Head of the Child Services Branch at IMM.
Additionally, Gül is a member of the Advisory Board of the Women and Social Research Unit at Istanbul Kültür University and is pursuing training in Family and Couples Therapy at the Istanbul Institute for Family and Marriage Therapies. She is also an active member of the Child Commission and the Local Governments Commission within the Social Workers’ Association (SHUDER).
