Şengül Altan Arslan

Şengül Altan Arslan graduated from the Psychology Department of Hacettepe University in 1987. She received her Public Administration Specialization from the Turkey-Middle East Public Administration Institute in 1998. She completed her Master's degree in Social Psychology at Hacettepe University in 2000. She received her PhD from the Public Relations Department of the Faculty of Communication at Gazi University in 2014.
She began her career in 1988 at the Social Services and Child Protection Agency. In 1992, she transferred to the Prime Ministry's Directorate General on the Status of Women. At the same Directorate General, she served as Deputy Head of the Social Status Department between 2004 and 2011 and then as Head of the Foreign Relations Department.
In 2012, she was appointed as an Advisor to the Ministry of Family and Social Policies. In 2019, she was appointed Deputy Secretary General of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, responsible for Social Services, Health, Culture and Public Relations. She served as the Director of the Istanbul Tourism Platform between 2022 and 2024. In June 2024, she was appointed as Deputy Secretary General of the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye.
She has lectured at various universities in Ankara and Istanbul. She has published academic publications on vulnerable groups and a published book, "Gender Discrimination in Textbooks."
