Sıla Kartal Al
Facilitator & Architect, Feminist Design
Sıla Kartal completed her Bachelor's degree in Architecture at TED University and her minor in Communication and Critical Media Studies before completing her Master's degree in Sustainable Architecture at Tampere University, Finland. Her work focuses on sustainability, spatial justice, and participatory design.
In her role as architect and design coordinator at Roof Coliving, she developed projects with local governments and communities, designed participatory workshops that encouraged the participation of diverse groups, and gained experience in projects supported by the European Union and international organizations.
In her academic career, she participated in the ARCH4FUTURE and AIsola research projects at Tampere University, conducting research on the climate emergency, social inclusion, and user experience.
Kartal, who has won awards in national and international competitions, sees architecture not only as a tool for the physical environment but also for social solidarity, sustainability, and justice.
