Syakir Amir Ab Rahman

Syakir Amir Ab Rahman is an academic and researcher at the Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design (KAED), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). 

Trained in the field of urban and regional planning, expertise spans tourism planning, community development, and environmental design, with a strong focus on sustainability and inclusivity in urban contexts.He led and contributed to diverse research projects addressing indigenous tourism, elderly care integration, urban regeneration, and community resilience. His scholarly work reflects a deep interest in developing planning frameworks that empower communities while responding to contemporary urban challenges such as climate change, rapid urbanisation, and social inequality.  

He also engaged in institutional collaborations, industry partnerships, and research networks. instrumental in initiatives that connect academia with industry and government agencies, particularly in the areas of sustainable development and urban policy. His academic journey and professional contributions reflect a commitment to balancing scholarship, practical application, and community service, in line with IIUM’s aspiration to nurture graduates and researchers who are professionally competent and socially responsible.
