Yaz Güvendi
Founder, Bird Collective Türkiye
TüYaz Güvendi is a campaigner and civil society activist who brings people, communities, and organizations together. For over a decade, she has led programs and teams in the field of nature conservation communications, working with international organizations such as WWF-Türkiye, WWF Mediterranean, and Change.org. In 2021, she founded a climate program and built a team at Change.org Türkiye, and over the past four years, they have supported hundreds of climate and environmental campaigns, collaborating closely with young people, civil society organizations, and decision-makers.
She has been birdwatching as an amateur for about nine years, and her content about Türkiye’s nature and birds reaches millions on social media. She also hosts a radio show called Şehir Kuşçuları (City Birders) on NTV Radio, where she shares stories about birds with a wider audience.
Most recently, Yaz has combined her experience and passion in a unique new initiative: the Bird Collective (Kuş Kolektifi). Through this collective, they created a one-of-a-kind music album that brings together the voices of endangered bird species in Türkiye with the sounds of endangered traditional instruments. With this project, she aims to connect art, nature, and communities, while fostering a culture of nature conservation and making birdwatching more visible and accessible in Türkiye.
