Cities that Shed Light on Children’s Imaginaires
In this workshop, the question “What will be needed to open portals to children’s imagination amidst the chaos of the city and the rush of daily life?” will be addressed. The Bebek95 team, convened within Boğaziçi University, will draw on its training and research in interactive reading to discuss this question through picture books. Also known as silent books, these wordless works are cost-effective and effective tools that can be used to understand children’s curiosity and interests, to connect with them and enjoy time together, and to support their creativity, empathy, and emotional literacy.
It is essential to develop collective reasoning and cooperation so that as many children and families as possible can understand the relational power of books and gain access to this resource. For this purpose, all professionals working with children and families within local governments are invited to this workshop.
