Golden Horn Labor and Industry Collective Memory Route

This route will explore the natural and built environmental elements, ecological corridors, and labor history that shape Istanbul's industrial identity from a water perspective. The spatial distribution of factories located on both banks of the Golden Horn, their relationship with water, and the labor structure of the period will be scrutinized. The transformation of the Golden Horn will be approached from different perspectives, from the Byzantine, Ottoman, and Republican periods, as well as through literature, cinema, music, and visual arts. In this journey, from "industrial culture" to "cultural industries," changing actors and landscapes will be compared. The route will begin in Karaköy on the Golden Horn ferry line and conclude at the Silahtarağa Campus, Istanbul's first power plant.

Notes:

Each participant may register for only one route.

Registration for participation must be confirmed via the MARUF mobile app.

After registration, tour tickets must be acquired from the MARUF stand on MARUF days.

Participants must be present at the Haliç Congress Center with their tickets at 1:30 PM.

Registration information will be provided one week in advance.

Transportation to the route starting point will be provided. Participants will return to their destination at the end of the tour by their own means.

Public transportation will be used for this route.
