Walking Through Urban Memory
The Eminönü-Karaköy route, which bears traces of the Byzantine, Ottoman, and Republican eras, will explore the city's palimpsests, challenge our ways of perceiving the city, and offer a fresh perspective on the buildings we pass by every day. The walk will begin at Yeni Cami Square and proceed to Kurukahveci Han, Galata Bridge, Karaköy Palas, Karaköy Pier, and Galataport. It will conclude at the 1930s Karaköy Güllüoğlu building, whose garden houses Genoese vaults and stone walls, which is a unique example of Istanbul's layered history.
