Marmarathon: Neighborhood for a Resilient City
Ideathon | 7-18 August
The "Marmarathon | Neighborhood for a Resilient City" ideathon, organized in collaboration between Marmara Municipalities Union, Data and Technology Center, Üretken Akademi and Superpool, aims to generate creative solutions for volunteer organizations at the neighborhood level involved in disaster management encompassing the pre, during, and post-disaster phases, and to develop sustainable, resilient, innovative, and inclusive projects for the future. With the theme of making communities and cities more resilient in the face of disasters, Marmarathon encourages young people to contribute to the secure societies of the future and to establish a strong network of solidarity within neighborhoods in times of disasters.
Enriched with supportive training and mentor participation, Marmarathon will take place physically after the Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes, on the anniversary of the Düzce earthquake, on August 17-18. Participants applying as groups from different disciplines or as individuals will collaborate for 36 hours to create new strategies and solutions to enhance neighborhood-level solidarity in disaster situations.
The emerged ideas will be evaluated by a jury, and selected works will be presented in a special session on October 5th at MARUF23.
