Burcu Aslan Okat completed her undergraduate degree in the Department of Geomatics Engineering at Kocaeli University in 2013 and her master's degree in 2017.
Her master's thesis focused on monitoring urban regeneration and property relations with regression analysis. She received her doctorate in 2025 with her thesis on the socioeconomic development levels of Turkish provinces, urban density models, and their relationship to urban regeneration projects. She has published articles in scientific journals on topics such as urban transformation, property rights, zoning practices, urban growth models, and urban sustainability. She currently works as a Research Assistant at Kocaeli University. She is also currently pursuing her master's degree in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at Gebze Technical University.
As a member of the Urban Sketchers Istanbul community since 2017, Aslan Okat has been drawing sketches and illustrations of urban life.
