Sinem Dedetaş

Sinem Dedetaş graduated from the Faculty of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at Istanbul Technical University with the title of naval architect and marine engineer, with a master's degree.
She has practiced her profession for approximately 10 years in both national and international companies, holding positions such as structural analysis engineer, structural design engineer, and plan approval engineer. Later, together with her colleague and husband, she has founded her own company and achieved pioneering projects in the maritime and shipbuilding sector, particularly in innovation and R&D, which are considered firsts in the world.
From 2014 to 2016, she served as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Naval Architects, part of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB). In 2019, she was appointed as the General Manager of Istanbul City Lines, a subsidiary company of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. In 2023, she was elected as the Chairperson of the Waterborne Transport Committee of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP). On March 31, 2024, she was elected as the Mayor of Üsküdar, Istanbul, in the Local Administrative Elections, becoming the first female mayor in the history of Üsküdar.
