Abdullah Özdemir
Mayor, Bağcılar Municipality
Abdullah Özdemir was born in 1983 in Inebolu district of Kastamonu. He graduated from Yıldız Technical University (YTÜ) Civil Engineering Department. He completed his master's degree in "Earthquake and Structures" at Istanbul Kültür University. Özdemir started his beloved politics in Bağcılar District Youth Branch. Between 2007 and 2013, he served as the President of Bağcılar District Youth Branches. Özdemir, together with his party colleagues, provided great services to his district in this 7-year period. Özdemir, who took part in the International Relations Working Group of AK Party Istanbul Provincial Youth Branch Presidency, left the District Youth Branch Presidency in November 2013. Özdemir, who was always active in politics and drew a successful graphic, was elected as a member of Bağcılar Municipality Council from AK Party in 2014. During this period, he worked in the AK Party Istanbul Provincial Directorate Organisation and Environment, Urbanisation and Culture unit. In 2019, he became Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Council Member again. Following the resignation of Lokman Çağırıcı, the Mayor of Bağcılar due to health problems, Özdemir was elected as mayor by the countenance of the council members in the election held at the meeting of Bağcılar Municipal Assembly in April 2022. Özdemir, who is one of the youngest mayors, has implemented many projects that have changed the face of the district from social life to urban transformation since he took office on 15 April 2022.
