Alinur Aktaş
Mayor, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality & President, Turkish Healthy Cities Association
Alinur Aktaş was born in İnegöl, Bursa in 1970. After completing his primary, secondary and high school education, he graduated from Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. Aktaş received his master's degree from the Department of Public Administration at Kütahya Dumlupınar University Graduate Education Institute. He works as an Independent Accountant and Financial Advisor.
After working as a senior manager in the furniture industry for many years, he founded his own furniture company with his partners. He continues his business activities with his company operating in the field of construction-building materials.
He started his political career as a Founding Board Member of the AK Party in 2002, and was subsequently elected Mayor of İnegöl in the local elections held in 2004. Aktaş successfully served as Mayor for three terms thanks to his visionary projects in economy, trade, tourism, industry, education, sports, infrastructure, superstructure and city branding. He was elected “Mayor of the Year” many times thanks to his projects in various fields.
He was appointed as the Mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality in the extraordinary session of the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Council held on November 2, 2017. He was elected as the Mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality in the local elections held on March 31, 2019. Alinur Aktaş also serves as the President of Bursa Culture, Tourism and Promotion Association and the Turkish Healthy Cities Association. Aktaş is fluent in English and Arabic.
