Hakan Baş

Hakan Baş received his bachelor's degree in Architecture from Yıldız Technical University in 2009. He worked as an architect at Emre Arolat Architecture and Berna Bora Design offices for a while. He completed his master's degree in the Sustainable Buildings: Performance and Design program at Oxford Brookes University in UK in 2014, on the subject of energy-efficient conservatory design to reduce the space heating demand of buildings of UK. He completed his doctorate in 2022 at the University of Liege in Belgium and Dokuz Eylül University on the subject of "Proposal of seafront buildings for improving urban ventilation and pedestrian wind comfort on Izmir coastline". In 2016, he carried out the design, planning and engineering works of the Ekoköy Seferihisar project in Izmir. He continues his postdoctoral studies at the Wind Tunnel laboratory of the University of Liege on the "self-cooling city" project with the financial support of TÜBİTAK and the University of Liege. He has been a research assistant at Izmir Kâtip Çelebi University, Department of Architecture since 2014. Building physics, urban aerodynamics, urban ventilation, pedestrian wind comfort, sustainable city and ecovillage planning are among his main research interests.
