Pelin Tan

Prof. Tan, Sociologist works in the field of space and art. She is a professor at the University of Batman, Faculty of Fine Arts. Senior researcher at the Center for Design, Arts and Social Research (Boston), an affiliated researcher on the Anthropocene and Space in the Faculty of Architecture, University of Thessaly, Greece (2021-2026). Tan is the 6th recipient of Keith Haring Art and Activism (2019,NewYork). She is the Lead Author of world urban report edited by Saskia Sassen and Edgar Pieterse under the International Panel of Social Progress (2015-2018). Tan is an advisory board member of IBA 2027 of Stuttgart region (2018-2027). She studied at Ankara University, Istanbul Technical University, Humboldt University, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She worked at Hong Kong Polytechnic School of Design, Nürenberg Art Academy, Berlin Technical University, Mardin Artuklu University, and Bard Human Rights Program. Her theoretical and field research was supported by CAD+SR, the Graham Foundation, the Hong Kong Design Trust, The Japan Foundation, IASPIS, DAAD, Qattan Foundation Ramallah, Sharjah Film Platform. Tan is a member of the pedagogical initiative of Dheisheh Palestinian Refugee Camp in West Bank Palestine.
