Rana Kahraman Duru

Dr. Rana Kahraman Duru completed her undergraduate degree at İstanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Department of American Culture and Literature (1999). She got her master’s (2003) and Ph.D. (2010)degrees in the same faculty at the Department of Translation Studies.
She started her academic life at İstanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Department of Translation and Interpreting as an assistant between the years 2000-2011. In 2008, she studied with Erasmus pre-doctoral research fellowship at Bonn University, Germany. She gave lectures about conference interpreting and community interpreting as an assistant professor at İstanbul University, Yeni Yüzyıl University, Yeditepe University, and Marmara University Translation and Interpreting Departments. Since April 2021, she has been working as the Head of the Translation and Interpreting Department at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University. She has been working as a conference interpreter since 2000. She is a member and former General Secretary of the Translation and Interpreting Association (Turkey) and founding member of Emergency and Disaster Interpreters (ARÇ). Kahraman Duru’s primary areas of study are community interpreting, emergency and disaster interpreting, interpreting for immigrants, mental health interpreting, crisis interpreting and interpreting.
